Sara Fogagnolo
Product Designer - Talent in Residence
Born and raised in Milan, I’m an eclectic and curious person who always loves finding out and learning something new about the surrounding world. I consider myself a well-rounded, emphatic and highly motivated designer. I have an open mind and I like to experiment with new projects. My educational experiences allows me to be able to deal with any kind of design problem and to work with different scales, from a small technological device to an entire building. After my experience in Portugal, I’m willing to move abroad in order to get acquainted with other cultures, to improve my attitude towards foreign languages and to get to know different approaches to design. Currently, I’m working on my thesis concerning circular material flows and uses in different sustainable city models. My final aim would be to work as a sustainable and material designer.
The growth of the urban population and the environmental pressure towards more sustainable strategies brought to the creation of the concept of Circular Economy. This macro-model, including different action plans, seems to be the best solution to face the current changes. The methodology used in the report intertwines four fundamental themes: city, design practices, materials and urban manufacturing activities. Material flows in urban contexts will be examined through the analysis about the nature of resources, the management methods and the production systems. The final goal is to propose a new metaclass of urban circular materials and to hypothesize an ideal prototype of an industrial city, where sustainable production takes place.
