Leonardo Lucchetti
Ingegnere Meccanico - Talent in Residence
I am currently a student of the mechanical engineering degree course at politecnico di Milano, university in Milan. I developed a specific set of skills in electronics manufacturing and programming during a period as team leader of the Democrito team, a group specialized in the construction of competition robots. Thanks to my knowledge of the Chinese language I established multiple contacts with pcb manufacturing companies.
Opal – Rover opensource
Opal is a fully programmable and open source based rover easy to reproduce and fun to program. By exploiting the use of micro-controllers and a base computer together with multiple sensors it is both manually and autonomously controllable. The rover enabled by the onboard computer and camera is capable to stream images online and be controlled by a user-friendly web page. Opal has been designed to be easily reproduce with basic 3D printing technologies, requires a minimal assembly and is provided with a plug and play motherboard. It is also provided with a custom built battery Li-ion battery pack that can withstand multiple hours of action.
Opal has been designed to be an excellent educational platform and have a direct appeal towards a young audience in order to allow an full comprehension of multiple programming languages along with the basics of electronics. A fully functional and realistic simulation platform, powered by Blender, is also integrated with Opal to allow a broader understanding of the functions of the rover.
