LA MENEGHINA – XXI TRIENNALE

La Meneghina is a city bike based on an open source project created and developed by Polifactory with Confartigianato under the patronage of The XXI Trienniale.

Every city is characterized by a particular natural and artificial morphology, La Meneghina concept was born from the analysis of the shape of the city of Milan with the precise aim of promoting the use of bicycles inside the urban area. Its functionality is made explicit through careful design choices that fuse traditional Italian craftsmanship with the conception of the typical bike in the northern city.

Polifactory together with Matteo Zazzera, founder of IRD Fixed, is giving shape to the project through a series of design workshops. La Meneghina is a bike for everyone, to be used every day to go to work or for the happy hour. Lengthened chassis and oversized wheels guarantee an effective tool to address the city obstacles such as pavé or the tram tracks. The most classic elements like the handlebars are amalgamated to accessories designed specifically from Polifactory team integrating analog and digital fabrication, tending between tradition and innovation. The colours take up the classic ones of the Milanese public transport with some details that highlight the contemporary spirit.? La Meneghina will be exhibited at New Craft (c / o Fabbrica del Vapore), the container of The XXI Trienniale dedicated to new forms of craftsmanship.
