Fabric-Action
Fabric-Action is a pilot-project promoted by Regione Umbria, co-promoted by Fondazione Politecnico, coordinated and developed by Polifactory and supported by Museo della Canapa di Sant’Anatolia di Narco (PG), a center that promote tradition and innovation culture of the hemp.
Fabric-Action initiative has been conceived to stimulate innovative experimental uses of the hemp through the development of projects created by designers, implemented by a makerspace/research lab and then promoted during an exhibition at Fuorisalone 2017.
Thanks to an open call, fifty ideas have been collected and eleven of them have been prototyped within Polifactory. The eleven prototypes show innovative and/or unexpected uses of the hemp developing solutions which combine design and digital fabrication. Famiglia Battenti is a set of percussion instruments made by hemp, UpLight Bass is an electric ukulele bass having a body mixing resin and hemp. Paidìa child suspension cradle, Soft system for environmental purification and Kinesis swing exploit the mechanical properties of the hemp. At the same time, Ssshhh is a furniture system exploiting the sound-absorbing properties of hemp panels and Agri-Hemp is a system of made-by-hemp-vases for indoor cultivation. Hemp and copper wires are mixed together to create SoHat, a “regenerative” hat. Finally, three special projects have been selected to experiment other uses of the hemp: the skateboard Delta9, the CanapE’ biscuits and the merchandising kit for the Museo della Canapa.
