Participatory platforms
Digital democracy for the most is a direct answer to the real need to innovate the public realm, indeed some of the biggest cities of the world are experimenting this tendency. In this way digital technologies, like online platforms, are spaces for public participation of people, where limits of time and space between public administration and citizens can be exceeded. Both innovation in the public realm, both change and social innovation raise from investments in human capital. Democracy indeed, by its nature, is a place where ideas, dialogues and conflicts take place, Ezio Manzini calls it democrazia progettuale, or better we can call it agonistic pluralism, and each of us has a role; designers in this case can enhance and foster this reality.
Therefore this thesis has the aim to study digital platforms acting in Milanese contest, facing their potentiality in terms of public participation and dealing with accessibility and transparency, consultation and deliberation in the virtual space. A real platform for public participation in Milano, a Smart City that invests on citizens looking at an accountable and participated innovation.
