Infinity. Smart helmet for the urban cyclists.
Marija’s work focuses on the design of a helmet for the urban cyclist, which acts both as a protection and signaling tool. Considering the potential for helmet design, several factors have been widely studied, such as the history, types, structure of helmets already available on the market as well as user reviews and consumer feedback. This has been done in order to successfully complete a helmet prototype that meets the major requirements of EN 1078. The preliminary study was conducted using statistical data derived from international research on the subject. The reference market for which the helmet is designed is the urban bikers’ and as a result the job aims to meet the needs and problems that these people face into urban environments. Their needs have been translated into design features, designed to meet common needs such as comfort, lightness, and ease of use. The ultimate result is the creation, development and engineering of a helmet able to identify the presence of the cyclist in the traffic and to inform others of his intentions. To this end, different sensors and light-guide technology are implemented in the helmet shell without hindering its main function.
