Erika Arcari

Erika is a student at the last of the Design & Engineering course, graduated in Product Design. She embarked on the path with Polifactory to develop her thesis project regarding remote controllers with the aim of producing a prototype at the end of the journey that is faithful to the requirements of design and operation.

Abstract:

Televisions, DVD players, home theater, HACV: all these components are remotely controlled, but they are not the only ones that need such control; today it is also widely used in toys and video game consoles, PC applications (the wireless mouse is an example), and sometimes mobile phones and other mobile devices are used for the same purpose.

The need to control one or more devices remotely is increasing due to an increasing amount of technology that produces greater complexity. From market research commissioned by Logitech, it emerged that users need simplicity in this type of device, more commonly known as remote control.

In this situation of great complexity, where the control of space and at the same time of the technological systems are fundamental, opportunities evolve that lead to innovative approaches even in contexts where technology is not yet well integrated.

Simplifying the interaction making it as intuitive as possible and minimizing the intrinsic difficulties of this type of devices are the objectives of my thesis project.
